Privacy statement
This is an English translation of our Dutch privacy statement. If there is any difference between the two, the Dutch version prevails.
Mill & Mist Films is committed to handling your personal data with care. On this page you can read which personal data we process, why, how long we keep it and what rights you have. We keep it as short and clear as possible.

Studio Maki & Filles VOF is the controller for the personal data collected through this website.
What personal data we process and why
Contact form
When you fill in the contact form, we process the following data:
- Name
- Company name (optional)
- Email address
- Indication of your budget
- Description of your project
We use this data to respond to your enquiry and, if it leads to an assignment, to prepare that assignment. Legal basis: legitimate interest and (where there is an assignment) the performance of a contract.
Email and telephone contact
If you email or call us directly, we keep that correspondence and the data you share with us in it. The purpose and legal basis are the same as for the contact form.
Visitor statistics
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit our website and which pages are viewed. This tool works without cookies and without identifiable data. No profile of you is created.
How long we keep personal data
- Enquiries that do not lead to an assignment: up to 1 year after the last contact, unless you ask us to delete them sooner.
- Client records and correspondence relating to an assignment: 7 years, in line with the statutory retention obligation under Dutch tax law.
- Visitor statistics: anonymised and not traceable to individual visitors.
Who we share personal data with
We never sell your personal data. We work with the following processors, which only handle your data to the extent strictly necessary:
- Formspree: processes contact form submissions and forwards them to our mailbox.
- Cloudflare: hosting of the website (Cloudflare Pages) and anonymised visitor statistics (Cloudflare Web Analytics).
- Moneybird: accounting software for client records and invoicing.
- Adobe Typekit: provides the typeface used on the website.
- Bunny.net: hosting of video files shown on portfolio pages.
- YouTube and Vimeo: embedded videos on portfolio pages. When you play a video, the privacy terms of that platform apply.
- Google Fonts: used on one separate subpage of the website to load a typeface.
A data processing agreement has been concluded with every processor that processes personal data on our behalf, or another appropriate legal basis applies.
Cookies
This website itself does not place any tracking cookies. The embedded video players from YouTube, Vimeo and Bunny.net may, however, place cookies once you start a video. Only when you actively click on a video do you consent to those cookies from the service concerned.
Security
The website runs entirely over HTTPS and uses modern security headers. Access to our records and accounts is restricted to Gilles and Marieke and protected by strong passwords and two-factor authentication where available.
Your rights
Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the right to:
- request access to the personal data we process about you;
- have your data rectified or erased;
- restrict processing or object to it;
- receive a copy of your data (data portability);
- withdraw your consent, if you have given it.
You can send a request to gilles@millmist.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Making a complaint
If you have a complaint about how we handle your personal data, we would like to hear from you first. In most cases we can resolve it together. If we cannot, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens) via autoriteitpersoonsgegevens.nl.
Changes
We may amend this statement, for example if we start using different tools or if the law changes. The date at the top of this page shows when we last updated the statement.
